ANTISTATIC FILMS FOR ELECTRONICS
Choose antistatic film for electronics processes
Antistatic film helps in applications where electrostatic charging matters during the processing of sensitive electronics. The range includes printed and unprinted polyester film tapes; select by marking, width and your process step.
01
Selection criteria
Which antistatic version fits your process step?
In the listed range, 3M ET 40 is the unprinted version and 3M ET 40PR the printed version. Decide whether visible marking is needed and which tape width suits the component and handling. The antistatic classification of the tape does not tell you how the finished bond dissipates charge or whether it provides electrical insulation or shielding.

CHOOSING FOR ELECTRONICS
Align antistatic function, marking and converting
3M ET 40 is listed as an unprinted antistatic polyester film tape and 3M ET 40PR as a printed version. Printing may matter when identifying material in the workflow; the suitable width depends on the component and handling. Also establish which surface will be bonded, how the tape will be applied and how it will later be removed. Any ESD requirement needs checking against the specific product and the complete application.
Krückemeyer GmbH can convert suitable films into cut pieces or die-cut parts for your process. In the consultation form, describe the component, required function, version and dimensions; we will review the material and geometry with you.

QUESTIONS ON ANTISTATIC FILM
How do 3M ET 40 and 3M ET 40PR differ?
3M ET 40 is listed as an unprinted antistatic polyester film tape; 3M ET 40PR is the printed version. Both product families appear in different widths in the listing. If your workflow needs visible marking, examine the printed version; otherwise, the unprinted version may be an option. Selection also requires information about the component, surface and processing. The electrical behaviour of the finished bond depends on the complete application; the product name alone cannot determine it.
Is antistatic film also an electrical insulating film?
No. An antistatic film is not automatically an electrical insulating film. The listed products are assigned here because of their antistatic product classification. For an insulation task, check the data for products designed for that purpose and the conditions of your application. The insulating film page covers that separate selection question. State the electrical requirement explicitly in your enquiry so that the material and product review addresses the intended function.
When is printed antistatic film useful?
A printed version is a relevant selection criterion when marking is needed during your handling or packaging step. The range lists 3M ET 40PR as printed and 3M ET 40 as unprinted. Check the width offered for the specific product and decide where the tape needs to be visible. Printing does not replace an assessment of the electrostatic requirements of the component or the full process.
What information does Krückemeyer need for cut pieces or die-cut parts?
Describe the component and its surface, the intended antistatic function, the required tape or part geometry and the process step. Also specify whether the printed or unprinted version is intended and how the material will later be removed. Krückemeyer GmbH uses these details to review which listed starting material and converting option fit the application. Cutting or die-cutting does not give the material additional properties; whether the finished part meets the required function must be checked for the specific application.
