What surface function does your component need?
Start with the stress involved: should a contact surface slide, or does it need protection from abrasion? Then check the backing material, adhesive, thickness and available format of each product. UHMW-PE film tapes in this range combine a low-friction backing with different adhesives; suitability for your substrate must be checked separately.

Surface film selection guide
Choose surface film by construction and use
In the UHMW-PE versions in this range, the film backing provides the low-friction surface. Rubber-resin and acrylic adhesives occur in different products; this does not mean every adhesive suits every substrate. Match the material pairing, contact movement, temperature, cleaning and required delivery format to the specific product. Questions about surface film
What characterises the surface films in this range?
The allocated range includes single-sided self-adhesive film tapes with a UHMW-PE backing for low-friction and abrasion-prone surfaces. The backing determines the function on the contact side, while the adhesive attaches the film to the component. Assess these sides separately: a low-friction contact surface does not, by itself, establish adhesion to your substrate.
How does a low-friction film differ from a protective film?
Selection starts with the required function. For a low-friction film, movement between contact surfaces is central; for a protective film, the protection task, period of use and later removal need to be clarified. Some products can serve more than one purpose, but their properties apply only to the particular construction. Specify the substrate and stress before choosing a product group.
What information helps when converting a surface film?
The shape and size of the stressed area, planned processing and required delivery format are needed. The material pairing and movement during use also influence the choice. The range lists rolls and die-cut parts as formats for certain film tapes. Krückemeyer GmbH will check whether the selected material can be processed into the required form for your specific need.
