Start with the task at the component: must the film protect a surface, provide electrical insulation or perform another technical function? Then compare the backing material, adhesive side, thickness and conditions during application and use. A property of the film backing does not automatically apply to the adhesive layer or the complete application.

Assess function, construction and processing together
Select a protective film according to the substrate, protective task, period of use and removal requirements. For electrical insulation or exposure to temperature, assess requirements for the backing, adhesive and component separately. The range includes different film constructions; a product name alone is not a technical approval.

Questions about choosing industrial film
What does industrial film include on this page?
The listing includes single-sided self-adhesive films and film tapes from the product catalogue. Here, “industrial film” does not refer to one material class or guarantee a technical property. One film may be intended for surface protection, while another may be designed for an electrical or temperature-related task. The construction of the specific product is decisive. Read its information on the backing, adhesive and service conditions before assuming it is suitable for your component.
How do protective film and electrically insulating film differ?
The protective task and the insulating task must be considered separately. For a protective film, the substrate, loads during use and subsequent removal are central. For a film intended for electrical insulation, the required electrical function and the documented product construction are decisive. The word “film” alone establishes neither property. Check the product data and conditions of your application; the properties of a backing do not automatically extend to the adhesive or the complete laminate.
What information matters when selecting self-adhesive industrial film?
State the required function, substrate and loads in use. Add how the film will be applied, how long it should remain in place and whether it must later be removed. Backing material, adhesive, thickness and supply format also matter for comparison where the individual product provides those details. A temperature rating or resistance of one material is not a blanket approval for the finished component. How can industrial film be converted for processing?
Krückemeyer GmbH can cut suitable films and process them into die-cut parts. Whether a particular film suits the required contour and supply format depends on its construction and processing. Specify the width or shape you need and the planned work step. Handling and positioning at the component also matter for the format. This allows us to assess whether a cut roll, a die-cut part or another documented supply format suits your application.
