Selection criteria
Which surface is exposed to abrasion?
Start with the protection task: does a label need to remain legible, does a printed surface need an overlaminate, or does a contact surface need to slide during movement? The listed range includes different films and film tapes for these tasks. Then check the substrate, type of contact and processing method. A product's abrasion resistance does not establish adhesion to your component or any other resistance property.

Assess protection and adhesion separately
For label films, the durability of the visible information matters; a transparent laminate can instead cover a print. Low-friction film tapes address rubbing between components. These functions are not interchangeable. For each product, check which layer is exposed, how the adhesive bonds to the actual surface and how long the film must remain in place. Statements about abrasion, chemicals or weathering apply only to the documented product and its particular test.
For converting, tell us the required shape, component geometry, surface and processing step. Krückemeyer GmbH will assess whether a cut format or die-cut part made from a suitable starting material fits the application. Describe the exposure in the enquiry form so the product choice can be matched to the supplied format.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ABRASION-RESISTANT FILMS
How do I identify the right abrasion-resistant film?
Match the specific product to your protection task. A suitable label or laminate film may be relevant for printed information; a purpose-designed low-friction film may suit a moving contact surface. Specify the substrate, rubbing contact, service period and processing method. An “abrasion-resistant” classification alone does not tell you whether the film will adhere to your substrate, withstand the temperature exposure or suit the complete component application.
Is an abrasion-resistant film also chemical-resistant?
Whether a film also withstands chemical exposure depends on the specific product, the chemical medium and the test conditions. Abrasion and chemical exposure are different loads. Some products in the range are classified as both abrasion-resistant and chemical-resistant; this does not apply to every abrasion-resistant film. Tell us the medium, type of contact and exposure period so we can assess the specific product for your application.
When is a laminate film useful?
When a printed surface or label needs protection from a suitable transparent covering film. The listed 3M Druckschützende Laminatfolie 7746 is described as a transparent protection film for overlaminating labels and graphics. Whether it fits your print, substrate and processing method depends on the particular application.
