BATTERY FILM · CONSTRUCTION AND DIMENSIONS
Battery film: choose films and tapes by construction
Self-adhesive battery films can provide electrical insulation for cells and metal parts when the specific product is designed for it. Select by component, film construction and processing; Krückemeyer GmbH can help determine a suitable supply form.
01
Selection criteria
What must the film insulate on the component?
First establish whether cells need wrapping or metal parts need insulation. Specific PET adhesive films are intended for each task. Then compare the backing, adhesive, thickness and liner alongside the part geometry and assembly process. Electrical insulation alone says nothing about thermal conductivity or electromagnetic shielding. If the film must also transfer heat or shield against electromagnetic interference, compare those requirements with the properties of the specific product.

SELECTION FOR BATTERY COMPONENTS
Match construction, insulation and processing
tesa 58338 PV2 is intended for cell wrapping and the insulation of metal parts; tesa 58347 is intended for the same applications. tesa 58358 is intended for electrical insulation of battery cells and other electric-vehicle components. The films differ in backing, adhesive and thickness. Technical values apply only to the individual product; they do not establish suitability for the entire battery module.
For a suitable slit roll or die-cut part, the component geometry, surface, liner and assembly step matter as much as the starting material. Describe the insulation location and the required supply form in the inquiry form. We will assess with you which material and processing option suit the task.

BATTERY INSULATION QUESTIONS
What are self-adhesive battery films used for?
They can provide electrical insulation for battery cells and metal components when the particular product is designed for that purpose. tesa 58338 PV2 is intended for cell wrapping and metal-part insulation; tesa 58347 for cell wrapping and the insulation of metal parts. These applications do not replace testing in the actual battery module. Selection depends on the component, the required insulation function, its geometry and the production process. Include those requirements in your inquiry.
How do battery films differ in construction and thickness?
The products differ in their individual construction and thickness. tesa 58338 PV2 is a PET tape with an acrylic adhesive and a thickness of 75 µm. tesa 58347 is a PET sandwich tape with a water-based acrylic adhesive and a thickness of 110 µm. tesa 58358 has a PETP backing, a modified acrylic adhesive and a thickness of 220 µm. These figures apply to the specified products. Greater thickness does not automatically make a film more suitable for your component or generally safer. Consider the construction, liner, available space and application together.
Does an electrically insulating battery film also conduct heat or provide shielding?
Electrical insulation does not mean that a film also conducts heat or shields against electromagnetic interference. The tapes mentioned here are intended to insulate cells and metal parts electrically. If your design must transfer heat or shield against electromagnetic interference, check those requirements against the data for the selected product. This helps determine whether one product can meet several requirements or whether different materials are needed. The component and the properties of the specific material are decisive.
What information does Krückemeyer need for die-cut battery film parts?
Describe the component to be insulated, its surface, the required film shape and how the part will be applied during assembly. The adhesive side, the intended liner position and the available space also matter. Krückemeyer GmbH can convert suitable films into application-specific sizes and shapes. Whether the selected battery film should be supplied as a die-cut part or a slit roll depends on the material, geometry and application. Technical values and suitability for your battery module remain specific to the product.
