Selection criteria

Selecting suitable thermal transfer film

Start with the print appearance and surface your label requires. The range includes white matt and other printable versions. Then clarify the substrate, the loads in use and the roll or cut format needed. Resistance and adhesive suitability apply to the specific product, not to all thermal transfer films.

LABEL FILM SELECTION

Align print, adhesion and processing

A legible label starts with a printable film surface; adhesion depends on the adhesive and the actual substrate. Moisture, temperature and other loads also need checking against the individual product. Tell us which component you are labelling, how the film will be printed and processed, and what shape you need. Krückemeyer GmbH can help select a suitable film and agree a cut format for your workflow.

THERMAL TRANSFER FILM QUESTIONS

What does thermal transfer mean for these films?

Here, thermal transfer refers to the printability of the self-adhesive label film. The listed products are intended for labelling; printability alone says nothing about adhesion to your component. Select the film by its print surface and an adhesive suited to the substrate. The printing process, material and processing steps must work together for a reliable result.

What information helps select a thermal transfer film?

Describe the required label, the component surface, the printing process and the conditions during use. Products in the range differ in colour, surface and format, among other characteristics. Information about moisture, temperature or other loads must always be checked for the specific product. Details of the component, environment and processing help narrow down a suitable version.

Is every thermal transfer film suitable for high temperatures?

No. A temperature requirement must be checked against the particular film and its product information. Some thermal transfer printable label films in the range have product information mentioning temperature resistance; this does not make it a property of every version. When and for how long the load occurs, and the substrate to which the film adheres, also matter. Include the temperature profile in your enquiry.

How can thermal transfer film be converted for production?

Krückemeyer GmbH offers cut formats and individual shapes for production processes. To discuss an option, specify the selected source material, the dimensions or geometry needed, and the desired supply format. Feasibility depends on the material, shape and processing step. This also keeps the suitability of the printable surface and the adhesive for your label in view.
