ADHESIVE FILM · TRANSFER TAPE
Adhesive film for industrial bonding applications
On this page, adhesive film leads to the range of transfer adhesive tapes. Whether a carrierless pressure-sensitive adhesive film or another construction is suitable depends on the parts to be joined, the bonding area and the processing method.
01
Selection criteria
Define the adhesive layer and processing method
Start with the two parts to be joined, their surfaces and the loads on the bond. With transfer tape, the adhesive layer, any carrier and the release liner must be considered separately: in a carrierless version, the adhesive layer itself forms the film; the category also includes products with other constructions. The product data for each item show its actual construction. Cut parts or die-cut pieces also call for a defined shape, liner handling and application method.

CHOOSING ADHESIVE FILM
From adhesive film to the right supplied form
A thin adhesive film alone does not establish whether a bond will work. Consider how the adhesive wets both surfaces, the pressure applied, the loads and the way the material is handled. Check whether the release liner supports positioning and removal. Heat activation is a separate selection question; pressure-sensitive transfer tapes should not be equated with heat-activated films.
Krückemeyer GmbH can convert suitable materials that can be cut or die-cut into application-specific sizes and shapes. Tell us about the parts, the required shape and the supplied form. We assess material suitability and feasibility for your particular construction.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ADHESIVE FILM
What does adhesive film mean in this product range?
Here the term leads to transfer adhesive tapes. In a carrierless transfer product, the adhesive layer itself forms the film, while a release liner aids storage and processing. The catalogue category does not replace a check of the individual product. Read its product data to see whether a carrier is specified, which adhesive is used and how the liner is constructed. Only then can you assess the film in relation to the two parts you intend to join.
How does adhesive film differ from heat-activated film?
Pressure-sensitive transfer tapes are applied through contact, wetting and pressure. A heat-activated film instead requires the activation conditions specified for that particular product. The names alone do not tell you how strong the bond will be or whether the material suits your process. Clarify whether heat is intended during assembly, which surfaces will be joined and what loads will act on the finished bond. The separate heat-activated film category covers that selection question.
What information helps when requesting converted adhesive film?
Tell us about both parts, their surfaces, the required bonding area and the loads in use. Positioning, application pressure and the required release liner are also relevant to processing. Add whether you need a roll, a cut piece or die-cut parts, along with the desired shape. Krückemeyer GmbH can then assess the material and the feasibility of converting it. A material name or one peel adhesion value alone is insufficient to establish the performance of the finished bond.
