OPTICALLY CLEAR ADHESIVE FILMS
Optically Clear Adhesive Films for Display Lamination
In display lamination, the adhesive layer must suit the optical stack and the parts being joined. Compare the listed optically clear adhesive films by product structure, substrates and processing; we can discuss a suitable converted format with you.

Selection criteria
Choose an OCA film for your display stack
Optically Clear Adhesive (OCA) describes an optically clear adhesive layer used to join transparent components. The choice depends on the actual substrates, optical requirements, adhesive thickness and release liner structure. Whether glass, polycarbonate or PMMA is suitable must be checked for the specific product. Part geometry and the planned lamination process also matter.

SELECTION FOR DISPLAY LAMINATION
What OCA film means for your bond
OCA film, OCA foil and Optically Clear Adhesive Film are search terms for optically clear adhesive layers here, not separate material classes. The individual product information is what matters: a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive layer without a carrier may have a different construction from other double-sided films. For example, tesa® 88008 is described as a carrier-free, pressure-sensitive OCA for optical lamination behind glass, PC or PMMA covers. Its suitability cannot be transferred to every listed product.
When you enquire, tell us the substrates, layer stack, viewing area, processing method and desired delivery format. Krückemeyer GmbH can then assess product selection and possible converting options such as cutting or die-cut parts for your application.

QUESTIONS ABOUT OCA FILMS
What is an Optically Clear Adhesive Film?
An Optically Clear Adhesive Film is an optically clear adhesive layer used to join transparent components. Documented OCA applications include laminating display layers and covers. The exact construction depends on the product: tesa® 88008 describes a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive layer without a carrier and with separate release liners. So check more than the term OCA. The substrates, optical stack and processing conditions of the specific film are essential to the choice.
Are OCA film, OCA foil and OCA adhesive different materials?
Those names alone do not establish separate material classes. The related category pages use search terms for optically clear bonds; the actual choice follows each product's construction and documented properties. A product called a film can, for example, be a carrier-free adhesive layer with release liners. For purchasing decisions, the product identity, adhesive, thickness, liners and intended substrates are more useful than the page name.
Which surfaces are suitable for OCA lamination?
Suitability depends on the particular Optically Clear Adhesive Film. The tesa® 880xx series is described for optical lamination behind covers made of glass, polycarbonate and PMMA. This does not establish suitability of every OCA product for those substrates. Tell us the materials of both parts, any coatings and the intended lamination process. The choice can then be checked against documented product information and your actual application.
What details are needed for custom cuts or die-cut OCA film parts?
We need the chosen film or the requirements of the bond, along with substrates, geometry, viewing area and desired delivery format. The sequence in which release liners are removed and components laminated is also relevant. Krückemeyer GmbH converts suitable materials into application-specific dimensions and shapes. Whether a custom cut or die-cut part is appropriate for the optical stack must be assessed against the material and application.
